sizes. The total market for animal health and nutrition products in Latin America
was worth approximately $1.5 billion in 2001, of which Brazil accounted for 43%
and Mexico 18%. The only other two countries with animal health and nutrition
sales worth more than $100 million are Argentina and Colombia.
Animal health and nutrition products for cattle account for just over half of
the regional market, with poultry products comprising a further 20%. Animal health
product sales for companion animals (pets) were worth almost $100 million in 2001.
Pharmaceutical products account for 57% of the Latin America health and nutrition
market, and biologicals a further 25%.
