Before you begin
Before you spend hours writing up your article, we recommend you discuss your
proposed topic with the editor (jenine.willis@informa.com). Although we do, of course, welcome unsolicited manuscripts, sometimes we may
not be able to use a good article simply because it covers the same ground as
one that has already been printed or is scheduled for publication. A quick discussion
before the article is written gives the author the opportunity to refine their
ideas/arguments and avoids the risk of duplicating subjects, particular if the
theme is topical and is creating a lot of discussion. E-mail us with a couple
of sentences explaining the focus of the article and the main points that will
be discussed, as well as your contact details. We will get back to you to talk
about the proposal and how to proceed.
Formats
Articles should be submitted as a Word file. Please send any supporting diagrams,
figures or illustrations separately; we can accept them in these formats jpeg,
tiff, eps or powerpoint. The front page of the article should give the proposed
title, a short abstract (no more than 50 words) and list all authors, their job
titles, company/organisation name, address, telephone and fax number and their
e-mail. GCPj is a features magazine rather than an academic journal, therefore your writing
style can be more informal than if you are writing a research paper. Imagine you
are addressing your peers, but please avoid jargon and too liberal use of abbreviations.
Finally…
We have no hard-and-fast rules about article length, however opinion articles
tend to be around 700–1500 words long, and review articles range from 1500–2500
words. All articles must be strictly non-promotional in content. They should not
have been published elsewhere, or have been submitted concurrently to any other
journal. |
