Apotex wins Canadian tender to deliver HIV drug to Rwanda

Apotex has been awarded the right to provide its triple
combination AIDS drug Apo Triavir (zidovudine, lamivudine plus nevirapine) to Rwanda under a compulsory licence, making it the first company to gain approval for a tender under the Canadian Access to Medicines Regime (CAMR).

Pharma trade balance worth Pounds4.3 billion to the UK

The UK exported pharmaceuticals worth Pounds14.6 billion in 2007 and imported drugs worth Pounds10.3 billion, leading to a positive balance of Pounds4.3 billion, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry notes in its 2007 annual report.

EU threatens Germany over drug discount contracts

Germany is coming under increasing pressure to change the way the sickness insurance funds (Krankenkassen) award drug rebate contracts to pharmaceutical companies. It has been told by the European Commission that most of the award procedures do not comply with EU public procurement law.
